ACT strength highlighted as region tops OECD global wellbeing survey

By Ben Faulks

Having a comfortable, healthy lifestyle is one of the main things you should look for when investigating a property market. After all, if you're about to purchase real estate in an area, you want to ensure you'll be happy there for a long time – investments like a new home only occur every now and then!

If you're interested in purchasing Belconnen real estate, now is the perfect time to take the plunge. The latest Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Regional Well-Being Report has named the Australian Capital Territory as the capital of the world for wellbeing, beating out another 362 regions across 34 OECD member countries.

Property Council of Australia ACT Executive Director Catherine Carter said the territory was the only place in the world to score above nine for each of the survey's criteria.

"Canberra topped the table in six of the eight benchmarks: education, employment, disposable income, safety, healthcare and accessibility to services. We scored 10 out of 10 for 'civic engagement' – alongside all other states except the Northern Territory," said Ms Carter in a June 26 statement.

This makes Canberra and property across the capital a great option to consider when looking into real estate in the near future.
