The future growth of Canberra's economy could be set to see an injection of stimulation in the near future, with Property Council's ACT executive director Catherine Carter stating revision of the planning and taxation system in the city could be on the horizon.
She said the need for older buildings across the city to be revamped and made suitable for new uses was an important part of seeing the region step forward into the future. As the area becomes more affluent, this could lead to new opportunities for residents of Belconnen real estate.
"To enable Canberra's city centre to evolve as part of a broader ACT Government urban renewal program, work needs to be done to identify the barriers building owners face when considering whether to convert an existing building," said Ms Carter in a 2 April statement.
Unlocking the potential in Canberra's CBD will be crucial to helping the capital city continue to support current and new residents who hope to call the region home.
