The Australian Capital Territory government will be holding a discussion about the benefits of light rail transportation infrastructure at the Travel Light Exhibition, which is currently taking place at the Gallery of Australian Design in Kingston. These types of discussion are fantastic for the future development of the state's infrastructure, which could be great news for residents of Belconnen real estate.
Minister for capital metro Simon Corbell said these discussions were imperative at providing feedback about the state's won light rail projects, with a huge 30 per cent of work trips expected to be made by public transport in Canberra by 2031.
"Participants at the roundtable will discuss what is required to encourage more people to choose active transport options including changing the way our city functions; increasing connectivity; walking and cycling communities; and improving public transport options," said Mr Corbell in a 29 October statement.
"Research suggests that people who use public transport walk further and more frequently than people who drive, and have better general health."
As these discussions become more and more common, the changing trends in public transport could start benefiting the people of Canberra. If you're interested in buying your own property in the area, get in touch with a real estate agent today.
