This weekend (Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November), it's time for residents of Belconnen real estate to trade in annoying weeds for native Australian plants for their gardens at the Spring Weed Swap. This is great way to not only rid yourself of annoying, invasive plants, but also get some wonderful, uniquely Australian plants to put in their place.
Minister for territory and municipal services Shane Rattenbury said all residents are invited to swap plants, learn about the best way to nurture a garden and arm themselves with knowledge on how to best combat weeds in the first place.
"The weed swap is a great initiative as it not only helps eradicate weeds, but educates people about identifying and treating invasive weeds in a responsible way, which allows them to continue the fight against these invaders long after the swap is over," said Mr Rattenbury in a 24 October statement.
The event has been locally supported for over 11 years and could be well worth checking out. Regardless of whether you're an avid gardener or a recreational amateur, the Spring Weed Swap could be a great way to spend some time this weekend.
