Australian Capital Territory minister for planning Mick Gentleman has said that community groups, businesses and other peak bodies in Canberra met on 26 February to discuss the future growth of the Canberra central business district – including urban design, planning and transport infrastructure goals.
This could be great news for residents living in Belconnen real estate, highlighting the continued commitment to development that is permeating the state government. This could offer some insight into what lies on the horizon.
“As part of the ACT government’s commitment to the delivery of the Capital Metro light rail between Gungahlin and the city centre along Northbourne Avenue, there is an opportunity to renew and revitalise the Northbourne Avenue corridor,” said Mr Gentleman in the statement.
There will also be progress made on one of the priorities laid out in the 2014 City Plan, which was to reduce traffic through the city centre. Furthermore, new guidelines to assist the delivery of capital works and high quality buildings across the city will be implemented.
If you’re interested making the most of Canberra’s future, now could be a great time to get in touch with a local real estate agent to start looking into property options in the local Belconnen community today.
