In a hotly contested race where victory was celebrated by local athlete’s from Canberra’s Club Lime, Ray White Belconnen Auctioneer Scott Jackson acquitted himself well in his maiden celebrity sprint.
After assuming an early lead, thanks in part to a generous handicap from the Ginninderra Little Athletics starter, Jackson looked set to score victory and silence his critics along the way, before tripping up in the final metres to finally cross the line a disappointing last.
In the mascot’s race Prime Possum repeated his feats of 2011 crossing the line ahead of Sarge from the Canberra Cavalry and the Ginninderra Little Athletics Tiger.
The race also features Lingerie Football League star Chloe Butler who struggled to make up ground from the handicappers penalty, Canberra Capitals star forward Brigitte Ardossi, Cam Sullings from Mix Canberra and other local football and sporting personalities.
Jackson has sighted poor preparation for the event as the main cause of his failure, and has already earmarked the race for an improved showing next year.
