It isn't often we hear stories about a government project being completed early, but that is exactly what is going to happen with the new light rail set to reach both Gungahlin and Belconnen real estate.
A new release from the ACT government has confirmed that the light rail project is ticking along very nicely under the watchful eye of the Canberra Metro construction team conglomerate, as the construction of the light rail now has an official start date, beginning later this year in May or June. However, don't expect too much disruption to your average day or enormous tracks springing up overnight.
"Many of these initial stages of construction won't be immediately visible, but this significant work will nonetheless be taking place," said Minister for Capital Metro Simon Corbell.
"They are critical aspects to the infrastructure of light rail, not just for construction but also to ensure a safe working environment."
Another surprising revelation is the promise of Canberra Metro to actually leave the Northbourne corridor greener than it was before. You'd expect that such a massive construction would not do wonders for the local environment, but those travelling on the Northbourne Corridor line can expect to see even more trees than there were before, the RiotACT reports. In addition, there only ever be three to four months where any particular section is without trees.
This is due to the decision of Canberra Metro to plant saplings in stages, resulting in a greener and more pleasant eventual journey to and from your Gungahlin real estate. Not to mention the added benefit to the local flora!
This new infrastructure will surely make the growing community of Gungahlin more attractive and accessible to buyers, granting a boost to the already-thriving local landscape.
