New arts funding programs announced in ACT

By Ben Faulks

Fostering the future of our creative types and cultural leaders is important, helping to maintain the strength of the Australian Capital Territory’s tourism industry and economy. Minister for the arts Joy Burch has announced that applications for two new programs – Arts Residencies ACT and Artists-in-Schools program – are now open to the public.

If you’re living in Belconnen property and hope to get some help in achieving your goals, these programs could be perfect. Ms Burch said these initiatives offer some fantastic opportunities to work with a diverse group of people, develop your own creative ideas and further yourself as an artist.

“The Arts Residencies ACT program provides an opportunity for a host organisation to engage interstate or overseas artists to immerse themselves in our vibrant arts sector and creative community,” said Ms Burch in a 2 March statement.

“The Artists-in-Schools Program provides students and their school communities the opportunity to work with a local artist to learn more about creative thinking and how art is made.”

Applications for both opened on 2 March, with applications for Arts Residencies ACT program closing 23 April, and applications for Artists-in-Schools Program closing 30 April. If you’re interested in attending these programs, be sure to get in touch and make your application as soon as possible!
