With their commitment to the creation of a more sustainable territory, the Australian Capital Territory government announced a number of new programs and initiatives that aim to boost the results already being recorded across the region.
This could be great news for residents of Belconnen real estate who are interested in adopting cleaner, greener living practices and standards in their homes. Minister for the Environment Simon Corbell said the annual report on the Climate Change and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act 2010 offered some insight into the territory's successes.
"The Australian Capital Territory government continues to be committed to meeting its target of a 40 per cent greenhouse gas reduction from 1990 levels by 2020 through serious change and major government initiatives," said Mr Corbell in a November 27 statement.
Some of these projects include a higher allocation of solar power energy, the extension of the Energy Efficiency Improvement Scheme for businesses in the region, and new legislation to make 90 per cent of the state's energy renewable.
With these plans expected to be rolled out over the coming years, now could be a great time to get in touch with a local real estate agent and begin plotting your own move into Belconnen property today.
