New town clock unveiled in Belconnen

By Ben Faulks

Owners of property in Belconnen now have a new focal point for the town, as the Rotary Club of Ginninderra unveils a clock at Kippax Fair. The club was established back in 1977 and has since been involved in various aspects of West Belconnen's local community.

ACT minister for community services Yvette Berry explained that the Rotary Club has established many ties with local groups. For example, scholarships have been made available to students at the University of Canberra, opening up further education to a growing number of local people.

Other projects the club has been involved in include the Melba Men's Shed, as well as the Club of Belconnen, which gives local groups an opportunity to perform and provide free entertainment.

"I commend the Rotary Clubs of Ginninderra and Belconnen and all Rotary members for their hard work and dedication to the people of West Belconnen and hope this clock acts to highlight their work and inspire others to follow their lead," noted Ms Berry.
