Those looking to secure Belconnen real estate for investment or residential purposes may be interested to hear of a new development that has been proposed for West Belconnen.
The first stage of the Riverview Group's development will be located on land adjacent to Holt and West McGregor, with the first 200 blocks of land available in 2015.
This development aims to be environmentally sustainable through the use of 100 per cent green electricity and 100 per cent recycling of water.
Housing will also aim to be affordable – allowing a broad spectrum of homebuyers to be able to enter the property market.
Once the project is completed, the development will help to provide 4,500 new residential homes, which will be released over the next 14 years.
This could accommodate up to 12,000 people on around 670 hectares of land.
This injection of new and available housing could ease the pressure on the Belconnen and Gungahlin real estate market, and will accommodate for a growing population in the area.
The Belconnen Community Council will be hosting a public meeting on August 20 to discuss the proposed development, where Riverview Group will provide a presentation on the project.
A draft revised constitution will be submitted by the council for voting.
