Public school enrolments continue up across the ACT

By Ben Faulks

The 2014 Australian Capital Territory Public Schools Census has highlighted the rising figures of children being enrolled, which could be encouraging for owners of Belconnen real estate over the coming months.

Minister for Education and Training Joy Burch said the strengthening education system in the state has been working to increase the number of children enrolled, in order to benefit them and their futures.

"ACT families and students are continuing to choose our public schools, with an increase in enrolments of 2.9 per cent in August 2014 compared with August last year, and 9 per cent since August 2010," said Ms Burch in a 15 October statement.

As of 1 August, public primary school enrolments had increased by 4.3 per cent, while college enrolments rose by 2.7 per cent. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student enrolments also rose by 10.3 per cent and 23.2 per cent, respectively.

With more children beginning to enter into education, the future of the state looks to be growing brighter and brighter by the year. Now could be a great time for young families to consider moving into Canberra and creating a life for themselves in Belconnen.
