Have you had your eye on rental property in Page for a while, but have never quite been able to find the right place for you? Well, the latest vacancy rate figures may be cause for optimism, as they show more properties have become available throughout Canberra.
April statistics from SQM Research put the capital's vacancy rate at 1.9 per cent. While this is still lower than the national average of 2.1 per cent, it nevertheless marks a step in the right direction for the city's renters.
In March, just 1.5 per cent of Canberra's rental properties were without tenants, making it difficult for anyone in need of accommodation. However, as the latest data reveals, it seems this trend is now starting to be reversed.
There's further good news as SQM Research also revealed a fall in rental costs across the city. During the week to 12 May, the cost of renting a unit was down 0.8 per cent from a year earlier, while house rents fell 2.8 per cent.
