Living in Gungahlin real estate has plenty of perks. A strong community, fantastic properties and even a new light rail network to appear over the next few years. It's certainly a fantastic time to be a resident of the area as everything seems to be coming up trumps.
What better way to celebrate being a Gungahlin homeowner than taking part in the recently announced weekend movie marathon held at Gungahlin College? From Friday 17 June to Sunday 19 June, local residents can get their fill of some of the best movies from a wide range of genres.
Exactly what films are going to be shown is completely up to the community: Head over to My Gungahlin Facebook page and vote on your favourite genre, time and a movie that you'd truly love to see – it's completely community driven.
It's an excellent opportunity for locals to get together and bond over some cinematographic masterpieces, but it's also a fantastic boost for local charities too. The ACT government has announced its intent to have local not-for-profits represented at stalls set up around the event, maximising fundraising opportunities and giving locals yet another chance to really connect with their community.
Stall vendors will have the opportunity to sell vittles for ardent movie-watchers (perhaps even a popcorn stand or two!) as well as more general fundraising activities. Sporting, community and charity groups will all have a chance to spread the word of their not-for-profit, as well as develop the funds necessary to continue their good works.
This is just one of the many community events available to local residents and the wider ACT. Fancy getting more intimately involved with this sort of strong society?
